COERR Mae Sot Support Youth Services for Community Benefit

In March, a school vacation after the final examination is a proper time for COERR to invite all schoolchildren to serve their communities. Lots of activities are done by youth such as cleaning some public areas, visiting and cleaning elderly’ houses, building check dams for keeping water in dry season. After the work is done, youth are happy and proud that they can work together with schoolmates in learning some know-how and be proud for serving their community.

In Umpiem refugee camp, on March 3rd, youth numbering 50 gathered in groups. Some of them went to clean temples and churches, collect garbage in public area and nearby village and some visited the elderly’ s houses in order to have conversation and help cleaning their houses. These youth are very much admired and thanked by the elderly.

As to celebrate Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 60th Birthday this year, as well as to promote the better living of the border communities, two check dams were constructed in Kui Ler Thor village near Nupo camp, with the cooperation of 50 youth refugees, 15 Thai villagers, and many parties concerned, on March 18th, 2015.
